I love to travel and I love flying, or at least used to love it...

A few years ago, I looked at taking the train to Spain for a family holiday. I saw how long it would take and how much it would cost - and then promptly booked a Ryanair flight. 

Now I'm thinking about trains again and instead of trying to cover long distances fast, I'm slowing down and looking around. What's going on in those places we all used to speed over?
